ENVIRON$ - a function that interfaces with DOS to retrieve an
           environment string from the DOS environment-string table
 
Syntax
  ENVIRON$ (environmentstring)
  ENVIRON$ (n)
    ■ environmentstring, a string constant or variable, is the name of
      the environment string whose current value is to be returned
    ■ n, which is a numeric expression, indicates that the nth string from
      the environment string table should be returned
